HTA MH370 Storm Gray — Boeing 777 Thrust Reverser Cowl Panel

The HTA MH370 Storm Gray Thrust Reverser Cowl Panel is an authentic Boeing 777 Rolls-Royce Trent engine thrust reverser outer cowl panel assembly in the as-removed condition from a decommissioned Trent 892 engine nacelle, providing aviation engineering training facilities and aerospace museums with a full-scale authentic example of one of the most aerodynamically complex and safety-critical external structures found on a commercial turbofan engine installation, fabricated from carbon fiber reinforced polymer and aluminum honeycomb composite materials in the precisely contoured aerodynamic profile that encloses the thrust reverser blocker door and cascade vane system of the Trent 892 installation on the 777 wing. The outer cowl panel spans approximately 2.8 meters in the longitudinal engine axis direction and covers approximately 160 degrees of the engine nacelle circumference from the twelve o’clock position around to the lower bifurcation line, fabricated as a clamshell half in composite sandwich construction with integral aluminum edge members and hinge lug provisions at the bifurcation line for attachment to the corresponding half panel. The interior surface of the panel shows the cascade vane array provisions and blocker door guide track recesses that accommodate the thrust reverser actuation elements when the reverser is stowed in the forward thrust configuration, providing an informative cross-section of reverser system internal layout. Exterior CFRP surface is in excellent aerodynamic condition with original nacelle white topcoat and Rolls-Royce stripe livery intact.
